Anche se oggi la sua importanza è ridotta, il radar rimane uno strumento essenziale soprattutto al nord, dove la visibilità è spesso ridotta.

Molte navi e barche anche piccole oggi sono dotate di AIS, per cui si vedono sul plotter anche a distanza, ma i pescherecci, le canoe, (i pirati!!!), i pezzi di ghiaccio non trasmetttono la loro posizione.

Abbiamo ora installato un nuovo radar interfacciato col plotter cartografico.
